Venture Colonialism and the Manufacturing of Anti-Communist Sentiment in Latin America

Today we will discuss in brief recent comments made by Prospera, one of many colonial project of venture capital under construction. Prospera is the venture capital-backed, billionaire city underway in Honduras. This is one of many colonial projects and settlements they are planning; you can see the state of many of them here, including sites in El Salvador, Nigeria, Palau, and in the Mediterranean. In these areas, venture capitalist are building residences, factories, medical testing facilities, work space and Bitcoin mines, while welcoming dozens of startups in through their financial vehicles. Many of these efforts, including Prospera, come from Pronomos Capital, a venture capital firm backed by Marc Andreessen, Peter Thiel, Balaji Srinivasan and others, with other investors going in on specific city sites/ city states, such as the case of Sam Altman funding Praxis, the Mediterranean colonial project, through Apollo Projects

In the case of Honduras, the land for Prospera was predatorily gained under agreement with a right-wing government; newly elected leftist officials following this took steps to expel it because of the obvious colonial threat it poses to the country. Prospera is now suing Honduras for over $11 billion dollars under highly controversial trade practices that are being actively debating and lobbied against in a number of countries, including here in America. This shows the ruthless, callous and greedy, abusive and threatening character of the venture capital threat.

It is in this context that we must view recent comments from Prospera; (for reference, ZEDEs are the economic zone structure through which venture capital is entering these countries):

“Recently, ambassadors from Cuba, China and Venezuela attended and praised (from privileged seats) an anti-ZEDE meeting in Hondura. This has raised concerns that these communist nations are behind the anti-ZEDE discourse and efforts to expropriate US investments in @ProsperaZEDE ; drawing the attention of many American officials. More than two dozen congressmen, from both the US Senate and House of Representatives and from both parties, have warned in several letters that Honduras must respect US investment in @ProsperaZEDE. Congressmen such as María Elvira Salazar recently convened a hearing on the issue of socialism in Honduras and highlighted the threat to US investment in @ProsperaZEDE as a matter of great concern. In fact, the threat of severe sanctions looms over Honduran public officials who authorize the illegal expropriation of US investments. As already invoked with Guatemalan officials, the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act authorizes the cancellation of visas for any foreign person identified in human rights abuses or corruption. Likewise, HR 465, known as the 'US Investment Protection Act of 2023, carries a crucial clause: foreign officials who allow the expropriation of US investments will face visa denials. The @RepGosar presented Bill HR 465 in January 2023, with the objective of protecting US investments abroad. Gosar is a strong advocate for economic security and protecting American interests globally. Gosar has been supported by influential congressmen in this effort. One of them is the @RepRickCrawford , who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. As a cosponsor of HR465, you are committed to safeguarding US economic interests abroad, emphasizing the importance of protecting US investments from expropriation. @congbillposey , who represents the 8th District of Florida (FL), is a member of the Financial Services Committee and focuses on financial institutions, monetary policy, housing and insurance, and is also a key co-sponsor of HR 465. @RepAlexMooney and @RepEliCrane , also co-sponsors of HR 465, have joined the effort to protect US investments and interests abroad. As Congressman @MarioDB emphasized, the sanctions that Honduran public officials will face for abusing US investors could involve the cancellation of visas. Congressman @michaelgwaltz reiterated these warnings, emphasizing that any expropriation not only reduces foreign investment crucial to Honduras' economic future, but also risks facing swift and severe sanctions. The message is clear: Honduran public officials will face severe sanctions if they choose to follow the path advocated by Cuba, China and Venezuela. The best path is to maintain the rule of law, protect acquired rights and cultivate good relations with the US government, Honduras' most important trading partner. 🇭🇳🇺🇸”

One of the truly ghastly things about this is that it is continuing to SEVERELY threaten Honduras, its government and people. It issues the threats of “drawing the attention of American officials” “swift and severe sanctions”, withdrawal of the support of America, “Honduras’ most important trading partner” and “cancellation of visas” . In fact, this missive is an extreme and blatant threat in all ways, and importantly, threatens to bring the full weight of America’s imperialism, legal system, government officials and economic wrecking ball, to bear on this fucking TAKEOVER, this colonial INVASION, by venture capital BILLIONAIRES, on this country where they do NOT fucking belong. I counted 10 *direct* threats in this missive, explicit threats, with several more than that indirect or thinly veiled. Holy actual fucking shit. The hubris of this when again, you are talking about billionaire venture capitalists openly attacking this fucking country where they aren’t wanted and will wreck fucking economic destruction and exploitation just like they have in everywhere else they go and every thing they “build” does.

It also is illuminating of a strategy we should expect to see over and over by this conspiracy: using lobbying, privileged relationships with politicians, legal frameworks and vast legal expertise and resources, using international trade law as a weapon, leveraging and threatening of the American imperial force to descend on these countries that don’t submit. These are INVASIONS. And by the way, we are talking about FASCISTS who are doing this; venture capital is now indisputably of the fascist character.

I would also like to point to the clear involvement, the willingness of involvement at the level of country governments, to threaten and badger them, to threaten their power, to threaten their sovereignty and control over their own land and natural resources, and sovereignty as people; host country governments are going to be prey to threats, campaign interference, coordinating of foreign influence, foreign money-backed installment of politicians (such as Bukele in El Salvador), and all other forms of forceful and destructive engagement with soverign political systems. In these countries, that have GDPs less than the wealth of just a few of these people combined, and their vehicles, they are facing an exterior, hostile threat. Honduras has an annual GDP of about $32 billion, with Andreessen Horowitz, Marc Andreessen’s monster VC firm, having at least $35 billion under management and I believe that number to be more around $50 billion considering a recent glut of delegation in Israel and Saudi Arabia in search of foreign funding, among others.

The final thing I wanted to comment upon was the ongoing manufacturing of anti-communist propaganda — anti-communism being a key part of fascism — being used again here for venture capitalists to gain geopolitical power. In the case of China, these same venture capitalists, are aggravating fear and tension with China in order to drive forward its military portfolio, deals with the Pentagon and American allies, and major military and surveillance contracts. We have discussed that in this blog, on how venture capitalists are provoking war with China, how this strategy serves their profit motivation for their portfolios, and how this dangerous and fraudulent dialog has made it into wide dissemination in the programming base during the embarrassing mess of the OpenAI fiasco

Now, we see it in another geopolitical area, this time serving their colonial and imperialist interests in Central America, South America and Africa — in these places, leftist governments are their biggest enemy, with the countries mentioned in the above screed having stood in opposition to the expansion and projection of venture and American capital and the risks it poses to them, particularly as crypto-friendly fascists like Bukele and Milei rise in power backed by venture capital, where we see fascist, colonial crypto fascists become a global political body engaged in political manipulation. As leftist governments are their enemy in continuing the colonial project — as we see so clearly in Honduras — the continued manufacturing of the communist threat, is reaching new heights. Indeed, their manufactured FUD about communists does not so much apply to America, where there is very little communist and Marxist organization, but rather, in countries in the global south that venture capitalists are eyeing for massive grabs of resources, labor, control of the economic system, and land, and where they face the enemy of leftist elements who will try to keep them out.

We will continue to monitor this growing threat as venture capital continues to grow into a hostile, geopolitical and colonial force.
